The MIS specialization is designed to develop business managers that understand the strategic value of IT and can conceptualize IT solutions to business problems. The program provides a broad exposure to the IT concepts and functions found in most commercial organizations today.
Students complete twelve business courses and five MIS courses in systems analysis and design, programming, database development and implementation, infrastructure functions including operating systems and networks and e-business development and implementation. In addition, they develop an understanding of key IT management issues today.
Graduates have an in-depth knowledge of business functions and concepts with a solid understanding of key IT concepts. They can identify strategic opportunities to apply IT solutions to business problems and can conceptualize their IT solutions.
Degree Requirements
The MBA program requires completion of Fundamental Courses (18 credits); Integrated Core Courses( 21 credits); and MIS courses(12 credits), as below
Fundamental Courses
Any of the following seven courses may be waived if the student has completed an undergraduate degree
within the last 5 years during which time an undergraduate course with similar
coverage was completed with a grade of B or better. A waiver exam may be taken
for undergraduate courses with similar coverage that do not meet the time and
grade requirements. Students may also take a waiver exam in exceptional cases of
professional experience with the permission of the graduate program director.
